View Requirements for Eligibility

Eligible individuals must be Montgomery County Residents aged 60+ with an annual income below 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. 

Participants must provide proof of age, residency and income. (Under : Individual $36,450  Couple $49,300)

This program is supported by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services, 

The following documents are acceptable forms of proof of age:
● Valid Birth Certificate
● Valid Driver’s License
● Valid Maryland State Identification Card
● Valid Passport

The following documents are acceptable forms of proof of residency:
● Valid Birth Certificate
● Valid Driver’s License
● Valid Maryland State Identification Card
● Valid Passport
● Utility Bill or Other with Address and Name of Maryland Resident

The following documents are acceptable forms of proof of income:
● Social Security Award Letter
● Earned Income Statement
● Income Tax Return
● Bank Statement

Founded in 2014 by Drs. Carrie Nieman, Frank Lin, and Kunal Parikh, Access HEARS began with support from Johns Hopkins’ Social Innovation Lab, and drew inspiration from Dr. Nieman’s own research among older adult populations in Baltimore.
